A consultation is a two-way interview — you're figuring out if I'm the right fit for you just as much as I'm getting a sense of what you need. Here are some questions worth asking.

What does a typical session look like with you?

Helps you understand whether my style feels structured or open-ended — and what to actually expect when you show up.

How do you balance coping skills with deeper processing?

A good therapist should be able to give you both — relief in the short term and real change over time.

What's your experience working with [my specific issue]?

Whether it's trauma, anxiety, relationship patterns, or something else — you deserve a therapist who actually knows the territory.

How will I know if therapy is working?

Progress should be visible — not just something you feel vaguely hopeful about after three years.

How long do most of your clients work with you?

This tells you a lot about a therapist's philosophy — are they building dependence or building you toward independence?

What happens if I feel stuck or like things aren't progressing?

A therapist worth working with will have a real answer here — not just reassurance that "it takes time."

There are no wrong questions. If a therapist makes you feel bad for asking any of these, that's your answer. A good fit should feel like a conversation, not an audition.

What if we're not the right fit?

Fit matters. If I'm not the right therapist for you, I'll tell you honestly and point you toward someone who is.

How quickly will I hear back?

Within 24-48 hours, Monday through Friday. I take response time seriously — you shouldn't be left waiting.

Do you take insurance?

I'm currently out-of-networkfor all insurances EXCEPT, Aetna and United (Optum). I do help clients access their out-of-network benefits for reimbursement via Thrizer. Check your coverage on the Insurance Check page.
